After training in viticulture and oenology and several years spent in the wine industry,\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eFrançois Reynaud\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003edecides to change that and return fully to the family estate. With Félys, he finally begins to vinify his own grapes and opens a new page in this story, with\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cstrong\u003emicro-cuvées produced in very small quantities\u003c\/strong\u003e.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch3\u003eAbout thirty hectares between Caromb, Mazan and \u003cspan class=\"il\"\u003eB\u003c\/span\u003eédoin\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe vineyard extends over approximately\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e30 hectares\u003c\/strong\u003e, between\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eCaromb, Mazan and \u003cspan class=\"il\"\u003eB\u003c\/span\u003eédoin\u003c\/strong\u003e, in an environment where vines, trees and vegetation are still largely mixed. The\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eFontainiers\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003earea notably benefits from a natural wind corridor that helps limit disease pressure and the effects of frost. François now works with the estate's grape varieties, notably\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eSyrah, Grenache, Carignan and Clairette\u003c\/strong\u003e, with a fairly clear desire: to start from this family heritage but not to be confined to a single recipe.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch3\u003eThe “Boisboite” and micro-cuvées for experimentation\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe first vinifications take place in the\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e“Boisboite”\u003c\/strong\u003e, a former shipping container converted into a small winery. A deliberately small space that allows François to work in small quantities, to test different aging methods, and to gradually build his style.\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eSuper Heavy\u003c\/strong\u003e, the estate's first cuvée, notably combines stainless steel and barrel aging, while\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eBallon Rouge\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003etakes Grenache in a different direction and\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eOdyssée\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003eworks Clairette with a light maceration. On the palate, citrus, yellow fruits and a touch of orange emerge, with a full-bodied, textured mouthfeel that is always balanced by a lovely freshness. There is almost a slight orange wine character in its texture, without ever losing the vibrancy of the fruit. We find black fruits, cherry, violet and a nice peppery touch, with a generous, juicy palate and supple tannins. It has substance, but above all, plenty of fruit and freshness.
