Cueillettes Partagées
Cueillettes Partagées, Dominique Derain's new adventure
Dominique Derain, still in the vineyards
Dominique Derain is one of those winemakers who largely contributed to shaking up Burgundy and natural wines. After years spent in Saint-Aubin, he handed over his estate but did not stop making wine. With Cueillettes Partagées, he is now continuing the adventure in a different way, through a freer project, built around grapes and encounters, between Burgundy and Roussillon. It's a way to continue making wine without recreating a classic estate, while above all retaining what has always interested him: the grapes, the terroirs, and the people who work them.
A project built around sharing
The name Cueillettes Partagées (Shared Harvests) already quite well conveys the spirit of the project. Dominique works with grapes from different plots and collaborations, with the freedom to step outside the Burgundian framework when an encounter or a terroir makes him want to go further. The project thus travels between Burgundy and Roussillon, with cuvées that don't necessarily try to fit into usual categories. More than a new label, it's above all another way for Dominique Derain to continue his work as a winemaker, with more freedom and a collective dimension at the heart of the adventure.
Free wines in the continuity of Derain
Behind Cueillettes Partagées, we find the approach that has accompanied Dominique Derain for a long time: letting the grape speak, intervening as little as possible, and seeking wines that retain movement and energy. Here, there's no question of simply replicating what he did in Saint-Aubin. On the contrary, the project allows him to explore other origins, other grape varieties, and other blends, while maintaining this very personal common thread. Natural wines, free in their form and especially designed to be drunk and shared.
